Senior Data Scientist

We are looking for a talented and hard working Senior Data Scientist to join the DataPop Product Development Team to help us design data analytics and machine learning algorithms that will help us match people to the ad that they have been looking for.

You will own an important part of our system, collaborate directly with its users, have significant influence over how we solve problems and will launch your innovations then see their immediate impact on our business. You will lead our efforts to create new value from our large and growing set of campaign performance data and proprietary meta-data.

Our ideal candidate has hand-on R&D experience with Big Data. Your work will help create new insights for our client immediately, as well as lay foundations for a system that predicts all the complex paths consumers take to find the goods and services that they are looking for. You are able to do independent research, tell great stories with insights derived from large data sets and can roll up your sleeves to manage day-to-day requests for data and analyses. You have a track record of delivering the right results and are able to work in a hyper growth, always changing startup environment.

Core Responsibilities

  • Research, design and implement technologies that power our inference engines, semantic models and meta-data performance models.
  • Work with sales, service and product teams to test hypothesis and develop analytics to deliver new business insights
  • Work independently and collaborate with engineering team to launch analysis on production systems using distributed processing technologies to achieve web scale

Required Experience

  • Ph.D or Masters in Math, Computer Science, or related discipline
  • 4+ years R&D experience in Machine Learning, Data Modeling / Data Mining.
  • Solid skills with data manipulation languages like Python, Scala, etc.
  • Experience with modeling languages like R, Mathmatica, etc.
  • Experience with NoSQL and distributed data processing technologies like Hadoop, MongoDB, etc.
  • Experience with Java and OO design
  • Experience with Computational Linguistics, Natural Language Processing, or Probabilistic Graph Modeling is a plus.
  • Experience in search marketing or online advertising technologies a plus.
  • Experience with Data Warehousing technologies such as Pentaho is a plus.
